A recent post to the ISA site The regatta this year is scheduled for the weekend of August 30th / 31st, in order for the winner to compete in the senior edition.
The last two editions were very successfully run by Fastnet Marine OEC in Schull. This is a standalone regatta with up to 24 invited competitors and their crew sailing for the ISA titles of Junior and Girls champions.
The Organising Authority will be the ISA in association with the selected host club. The event title is the ISA All Ireland Junior Sailing Championships as it incorporates both the Junior and Girls championships. A sponsors name may be prefixed subject to prior agreement with the ISA. This usually follows where sufficient support to provide adequate media coverage to promote the event in the sponsor’s brand is in place. The ISA will support the Communications and media for the event including an ISA rib for media/photography afloat. High speed broadband should be in place for media communications during the event and where possible with public Wi-Fi available for competitors.
An entry fee may be charged to offset the costs associated with running the event.
A host club should have 20 / 25 one design dinghies available which are equal in performance. The ISA SailFleet Dinghies will be made available free of charge if required. The preference is for a two person boat without spinnakers to be used. The boats should be available on the day prior to racing for invited sailors to practice.
The ideal location will be able to launch and recover boats at all stages of the tide from a slipway or pontoon and have boats for race management, start/finish, mark laying, safety etc. and two suitable ribs for race officials afloat.
The preference is for a race area that can be easily seen from the shore for spectators and the general public and be a short sail from the launching area.
The ISA Racing Dept. in consultation with the host club will issue the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions.
The perpetual trophies and ISA medallions are presented by the ISA.
Applications are welcome from ISA Category 1 Clubs before 12.00 on Monday the 24th of March 2014.
Please contact Ed Alcock, ISA Racing Manager by email email@example.com for further information.
Applications will be assessed by the All Irelands Steering Group against the criteria listed above, and the host Club will be announced by Fri 28th March.
